Make Money On The Internet
Whenever I hear someone talking about how to make easy money on the Internet, I automatically cringe. You see, until recently all of my efforts to make money on the Internet failed. I have to admit that I am somewhat gullible. In most respects, I am fairly intelligent, but I have a way of falling for scams that is quite unbecoming. There are so many things that I want to believe, and the idea that I can become rich overnight is at the top of the list. In short, I’m exactly the person who the make money online sellers target – naïve, enterprising, and just a little bit desperate.
As a matter of fact, I have tried almost every possible way to make money on the Internet. I tried selling on eBay, which did absolutely nothing for me. I was able to sell a few odds and ends that I have collected over the years, but with the amount of time that I invested in creating an eBay store, I didn’t really gain enough to make it worth it. That was one of my more successful attempts to make money online too! Some of the other ones are almost too embarrassing to tell.
Of course, I tried to make money on the Internet through affiliate programs, but I never got more than a few dollars from this. I run a pretty popular blog, and I figured that I could turn all that Web traffic to my advantage. Unfortunately, although it did make a buck or two, I also alienated a lot of my readers with my attempts to make money on the web. You see, it is an environmentalist, anti-consumer blog. Seeing Internet pop-up ads on it was the last thing my readers wanted. The backlash wasn’t worth a few bucks.
Come to think of it, I have been completely unable to make money on the Internet except in ways that I made money before the Internet was around. You see, I have dabbled in freelance writing for years and years. The Internet has made it a lot easier for us freelancers. We can find work from the comfort of our own homes, and we don’t have to wait for e-mails or telephone calls anymore. If you are a decent writer and pretty good at marketing yourself, this is an easy and obvious method for making money on the Internet. Nevertheless, don’t start off thinking that it will make you rich overnight. It simply won’t.

Build a Website One Piece at a Time
The best tip for beginning Website developers is to take things one step at a time. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the thought building an entire Website, so just look at each task in the process as individual projects.
For example you can start by breaking down the process of individual page construction.
Every HTML document consists of two parts, the head and the body. The head contains your HTML title, META tags, and other relevant data. The body area contains the part of your Web page that will be publicly visible. These two distinct parts of your document represent two separate steps in the building process.
You can break things down further by itemizing each major piece in the head and coding these step-by-step. For instance, you’ll enter your title tag details, style sheet reference, and the META tags you have chosen to use.
Do the same with your body. Create your main table or div elements, and then slowly work your way inward.
Save your progress after each tag or attribute you enter. This will allow you to avoid the chaos of having to start over in the event your work is interrupted by a power surge.
Also, you can leave hard return spaces between lines of code in your HTML editor. These won’t show up as extra spaces on your public HTML page, and they make it easy for you to find specific areas when you need to make changes or updates.
And you can use the comment tag to make notes to yourself that will only be visible when viewing the raw code. This is helpful for breaking the document up into more manageable sections.
The comment code looks like this:
Through practice you will begin to see the overall document clearly. The initial sense of anxiety and confusion that comes from opening a piece of raw code and trying to find your way around will pass.
Once you get the hang of building individual pages in a piece by piece manner, you can adapt this way of thinking and working to your overall site development. Identify everything you’ll need to do to get your ideal site online and itemize this entire project into multiple smaller task sets.
For example:
- Graphics template
- Primary navigation
- Site content
- Adsense blocks
- Blog installation
- Audio effects
- Embedded video
- Opt-in forms
-And so forth…
Any project quickly gets easier when you break the whole up into sections, and this is especially true of the sometimes tedious and time consuming job of building an entire Website. Once you get a fluid system together you’ll be able to work more quickly and with fewer mistakes.
And when you have a proven, systematic approach that has worked for you on your first site, you’ll be able to apply this to the next project. With a little tweaking and fine-tuning you can easily come up with a generic project template and a set of module files that allow you to tackle even the biggest of projects in relatively short order.
What Makes a Successful Website
As a business owner you certainly wouldn’t accept an employee that was rude, slow, and generally inefficient.
Surprisingly, many employers have no problem when their website performs similarly. Unfortunately these problem “employee” websites are found far too often which is sad since a well performing site takes little more effort than one that doesn’t.
A good site doesn’t necessarily have to be large or elaborate either. The copywriting rule of thumb applies perfectly to a website, that being, say enough to make the sale, not more or less. Here are a few more important tips:
If you offer contact via phone, make your number easy to find. People like being able to reach a live person. Make it easy for them to do so.
Post a video. It’s almost becoming a necessity at this point to keep up with the current trend of giving a multimedia message to your visitor. They expect it, so deliver it to them.
Keep your message focused. This includes de-cluttering your website. If there is something on there that doesn’t lead directly to the sale, get rid of it. Focus on the customer, not on wild or complex sites that strive for creativity. Make it easy for your customer to find the solution to their needs.
Move to eliminate things that distract or delay the customer. One common offense here is the Flash splash page. These things just delay the real message you need to deliver, and no longer have the wow factor that they once had. A far better use would be to have a video has previous mentioned.
It’s critical these days for your web page to look good in multiple browsers. Without checking, you might be very surprised as to how different it may look. Although Internet Explorer is widely used, a large percentage of people use other browsers as well. Would you want to shop in a cluttered, disorganized store with amateurish looking signs? Of course not, nor can you expect the same from a website. The bar is so much higher now than it was just five years ago.
Another common problem is readability in terms of font design, contrast and size. Again avoid the artsy look and stick with high contrast colors and standard fonts.
Although high speed internet is becoming more common, do take care to keep the page load times reasonable. One way to do this is make sure any graphics are reformatted to be optimized for the web. Note that pictures from your digital camera are not automatically optimized and can result in very slow page loading times.
Analyzing the performance of your website is important to know where the strengths and weaknesses are. There are free analytics that will allow you to track where the visitor comes from, how long they stay on your site and what paths they take when going through your site.
Ultimately your site needs traffic and that means being listed on Google and Yahoo. Getting there involves not only the right web design with the right key words on your site, but getting links to your site from other sites.

How Are You Making Your Business Website Successful?
Here are 5 ways to improve your business website to achieve the results you are looking for.Electronic Payment – How is your payment system set up? Are you only accepting checks in the mail? If your business is online, you need to be able to accept payment online. Think of it like those coffee stands and businesses that only accept cash. It’s all well and good, but we live in a world of debit and credit, those businesses are losing valuable customers everyday they are not accepting debit or credit. There are several online electronic payment merchant processing services that can help you start up an electronic payment plan with your online business. E Commerce Shopping Cart If grocery stores didn’t offer shopping carts, people wouldn’t buy as much- they wouldn’t be able to carry it all, they would have to buy several things another day or try and ask other people to follow them around holding their items, which would never happen. Yes, it’s a courtesy for a grocery store to offer grocery carts and convenient for shoppers, but it is also a way for grocery stores to make more money as- people will be able to pick up and carry more. This same way of thinking is similar to an online E commerce shopping cart. If you can offer a shopping cart your online buyers, you are giving them a place holder to store their items so they can continue to look around and buy other items without losing track of the items they already plan to purchase. Plus, regardless of whatever they decide to purchase, you will be able to see what customers put in their cart regardless of if they buy it- helping you out on what you decide to keep or get rid of in your store.Marketing/Linking- How are you reaching out to new customers or keeping the one you have? A business website is just like a brick and mortar store in many regards. If you say that your business hours are from 9-5, than you need to have the lights on and the doors unlocked ready for business at that time. If your site isn’t working properly, or if you don’t ever check your email, it’s likely that you will find people turning away the moment they get there, or else never returning. When advertising your business online, you want to try and reach out to as many people as possible yet in a way that isn’t intrusive or annoying like Spam. By adding links to your business website of businesses that you recommend and visa versa, you will slowly gain exposure that way. Make sure you communicate with review sites like Yelp and City Search to help create talk around your business.Reviews- As stated before, getting your site onto review sites can help create buzz around your online business. Instead of the age of the business advertising for themselves, it’s more about people advertising for other businesses for free. People would rather hear from a friend whether or not a restaurant is good or not, or whether to buy a certain car or avoid it like the plague. The double edge sword with review sites is- if you have one bad review, it could cause a lot of grief for your business, but the same goes for a good review. You can suddenly have an explosion of business should you have a couple good reviews about your business or products.Exceptional Customer Service-There may not be a better thing to focus your energy on once your business is up and running than quality of customer service. People recognize and remember good customer service, sometimes even better than the product or service you are offering. Oftentimes a restaurant or café won’t have the best food in town, but if their customer service is top notch, people will tolerate the food and come for the service. Responding to emails, updating your site, getting customers quality products fast or at least on a timely manner really make a huge impact on what people think of your business and what they will say to other people. If you are hoping to make this year the best year for your website business, look to a few key pointers in customer service, marketing and payment policies on your website. Your customers will have a hard time helping you succeed if you don’t give them the tools and service they need.
Can you Build a Website On a Limited Budget
Build it and they will come!
One statement that I would advise to ignore anyone believing that is truly up there with the fairies.
Right first things first the above question has been asked to me more times then I have fingers and toes so to hopefully aid new business owners to the internet I wrote this.
The first thing you will need to do is learn a little basic html trust me it will help you out bucket loads in the future and find a good WYSIWYG editor if you are lucky enough you may already have Front Page if not you can get a free trial of some great editors out there. Next find cheap website script from one of the auction sites I brought a full web site script for £2 of Ebay a search of any of the major search engines for GPL or open source scripts will throw up quite a few scripts.
Next you will need a good FTP program to upload your script to you webspace. Cute FTP is one of my favorites and is easily laid out, great for beginners again you can get a free trial so once again costing you nothing.
Once you have found a good script read the read me file in detail obvious I know but you would be surprised at how many don’t.
Now this is where knowing a small amount of HTML will come in handy if you have brought a script or got a open source script chances are hundreds of other people have to I would say take some time in just making a few changes adding you logo change the colors around a bit, maybe add a link page or add a remotely hosted forum to your site all you have to do is a basic HTML link pointing to where your forum is and you have a forum (this is where knowing a small amount of HTML comes in handy. Some open source sites come with support forums take the time to read them they can be greatly beneficial.
Next Domain names there are sites that offer free domain names and sites that offer sub domain names but I would say buy one they are cheap enough but remember try to avoid domain names that are too clever for there own good like Mi11iondollarhomepage.com you notice that there a two number ones in there looks good but try advertising that on the radio or two people talking about your website chances are when they type in your address they won’t find it. Keep it simple, keep it short as you can.
So you’ve got your site up and running it all works properly but wait you have no traffic! This is where you will feel frustrated and at times and will even come close to giving up but I advise you don’t, it will take time but eventually it will pay off. Now what I am going to say will have some people spitting out there dummies especially those overpaid so called gurus of the internet. Paying loads of money for advertising is not a guarantee that you are going to have loads of traffic come flooding in. The only way to do that is search the internet for forums that offer advice on advertising and spend time not money on building up your reputation and your links to your website.
If followed the above will cost you next to nothing and a whole load of sleepless night and a lot of time
Good Luck with your venture.
And Remember fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
